My garage gear, diy Sandblast cabinet

One thing i took time out to build was a sandblast cabinet..
my mate works on sites and we got talking about this, he brought me home some industrial ventilation ducting, 700mm x 700mm , 2 off. An old bikers jacket for gaunlets, some ply, a glass sheet removed from double glazed unit, and some angle iron off cuts, total cost £10.00 or so!

This ducting proved excellent, and formed the main unit, and the bottom funnel assembly too,

I use kiln dried sand, i will get glass bead, (i know, silicosis) but i dont get a hint of dust as its all sealed, and has performed excellently. One big bag of sand last 3-4 cycles before its too smashed to cut thruough rust, but even then its does a great job on soft aluminium parts.

If you can imagine the crud on a thirty year old carb inlet manifold, then this is what 30 mins in this did to it. If you want i can send you some build notes. it is the best thing since sliced bread for restoring and keeping costs low.
